Seltzer in a recyclable plastic siphon bottle was discovered on a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina a few years back. Remembering my youth, when the seltzer man delivered 26 oz glass bottles of seltzer every week to my parents apartment, I remarked that this is no longer the case. The seltzer man has almost disappeared along with the glass seltzer bottle. I also realized we had no current replacement for the old bottle.

Squirting Bottle I thought about this for a long time and figured we needed to bring this plastic siphon bottle to the U.S. Having spoken to my accounting partners and a gentleman who is in the seltzer business, we formed a company and began to bring the product into the U.S. to create a test market. If all goes well and we can create a market for the product, we will eventually produce the seltzer in this country.

The product is a 2 liter bottle, 67.6 oz, which holds its carbonation for many weeks. In comparison, a capped bottle, after it is opened, begins to lose its carbonation within 2-3 days and goes flat in a relatively short time.

Upon chilling our bottle and serving the seltzer, you find it has a clean taste and a nice bite. That bite will last for weeks since the bottle is never actually opened. It can be stored upright or lying down and it will not leak. There is however some weeping from the residual water that remains in the spout, but this is normal.

All the water is filtered and tested to comply with U.S. standards, so there need be no concern about a foreign product contaminating the water. The product is made and bottled by the largest bottler in Argentina, exclusively for our company.

Since the bottle is fashioned on the old glass bottles, the siphon is a great vehicle for making Egg Creams, a N.Y. favorite.
